Glacial Lakes, South Dakota Fishing Guide – The Story Behind the Area

A fishing gem in the Dakota plains, South Dakota Glacial Lakes are a fisherman’s paradise! Fin-Hunters Guide Service regularly takes clients fishing on Waubay Lake, Lynn Lake, Roy Lake, Bitter Lake, Enemy Swim, Pickerel Lake, and more. Walleyes are by far the most frequently fished species, but smallmouth bass, northern pike, crappies, bluegills, and white bass are likely part of the catch. Smallmouth bass fishing is fantastic in this region and large fish are common.  Some of the better smallmouth bass fisheries are Waubay, Pickerel, Enemy Swim, and Roy Lake. South Dakota Glacial Lakes were formed with the slow movement of the last in a series of glaciers across northeastern South Dakota 20,000 years ago, large glacial craters were carved into the ground. As the glaciers retreated, the craters were filled with water, forming a series of pristine glacial lakes. In present-day northeast South Dakota, there are 120 of these glacial lakes ranging widely in size. Its beautiful country and appears to be another lake over every ridge. Waterfowl, shore birds, and wildlife are abundant in SD Glacial Lakes, which everyone enjoys. Lodging recommendations are not a problem near the small towns of Webster and Eden, SD. Fin-Hunters Guide Service works with several other guides in the area, Joe Honer’s Guide Service , to accommodate large groups and help each other compare fishing trends and details.  We are going to have a great time!  Whenever possible I will provide you with knowledge and instruction from my 14+ years of guiding experience in a  positive and friendly manner. I Love to share the outdoor experience with my clients; finding challenge and adventure in a safe and legal manner, sharing the sport that I love.   Conveniently located a short drive off of Interstate I-29, South Dakota Glacial Lakes will provide some great fishing, beautiful scenery, and some of the friendliest people in the Midwest.  Come join Fin-Hunters as your Glacial Lakes South Dakota Guide Service for some great fishing you’ll sure to be back!
